Kyle Timm

European-Based AEC representative

International show jumping competitor and trainer Kyle Timm joined Apex Equestrian Center in 2012. Originally from Calgary Alberta, Canada, Timm was raised 30 minutes from the famed Spruce Meadows where he watched and grew up with some of the best horses and riders in the world. He began riding horses at age six and started competing with at age eleven.  In 2003, Timm represented Canada at the World Children’s Jumping Championship.  In 2006, he jumped for the first time in FEI competitions, achieving top placed results at Spruce Meadows against best in the world. He was the youngest Canadian to ever place in FEI classes at Spruce Meadows and also won the Royal and Sun Alliance scholarship for leading junior rider of the year.

 

Starting to ride professionally in 2008, Timm continued to compete in Grand Prix around the western United States and represented Canada at the 2008 North American Young Riders Championship in Denver, Colorado. In 2009 Kyle Timm moved to New Zealand where he focused on young horses, winning the National 5 Year Old Championship.  In 2010, he spent the summer training in Germany with Soren von Ronne in Holstein, a former world equestrian games gold medalist. Timm represented Canada again at the 2010 North American Young Riders competition in Lexington, Kentucky.

 

In 2011, Timm continued riding in New Zealand where he won the National 5 Year Old Championship for second time. He qualified two horses for the World Young Horse Championship in Lanaken, Belgium. He trained with Pieter Kersten in Netherlands, the head of stallion approvals for KWPN at the time and one of most respected horseman in Netherlands. Timm has ridden and competed all over the world including Canada, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Japan.

 

In 2018, Kyle decided to take his journey to Europe in order to pursue the equestrian sport at the highest level, as well as to make valuable connections for sale horses while representing AEC. 

Kyle Timm’s approach is modern and tries to integrate both the American style and European effectiveness with a strong focus on horsemanship while always trying to respect the animals as our partners. He tries to help all his riders realize that every rider and horse is different and every approach is different.  In addition to Timm’s impressive training and jumping skills, he also is very experienced in sport horse sales and has worked with top clients around the world. He currently operates a 30+ horse sales business with horses across the USA and in Europe.

  • Won National Grand Prixs (1.45m) in Canada

  • Won National Grand Prixs (1.50m) in the United States

  • Won FEI International Grand Prix to 1.50m

  • Has sold more than 75 horses in the USA since beginning with Apex Equestrian in 2012

  • Has qualified riders for Pony Finals, Child/Adult Regionals and North American Young Riders Championships
